Liquid Gas Ireland welcomes the commitment in the new Programme for Government to explore the use of sustainable biofuels in existing home boilers to reduce emissions in cases where deep retrofits are not possible.

In the drive toward a sustainable and low-carbon future, rural communities must not be left behind. Ireland must offer a ‘Just Transition’ to decarbonisation, which provides accessible, affordable, and fair options for all homes and businesses to reduce energy emissions.

By embracing a mixed technology approach, our incoming Government has an opportunity to make meaningful progress in reducing emissions, and we are delighted to see this approach reflected in the Programme for Government. As the representative body for companies in the liquid gas (LPG) and renewable liquid gas (BioLPG) industry, LGI will work alongside the new Government to build on the policies outlined in the Programme for Government and deliver practical, affordable, and inclusive solutions for a cleaner, more sustainable Ireland.
