Liquid Gas Ireland to launch pathways to transitioning to 100% renewable liquid gas
Liquid Gas Ireland (LGI) will publish an ambitious new industry strategy titled ‘Delivering Net Zero for Rural Ireland – Pathways to Renewable Liquid Gas’ this Tuesday, 16th September. The strategy will be launched as part of a panel discussion at 12.15pm in the Irish Farmers Journal stand (block, 4, row 11, stand 239) at the National Ploughing Championships.
The report will set out a clear, evidence-based approach for a transition to 100% renewable liquid gas in line with Ireland’s net zero target. It will document the multiple supply and production routes that need to be considered to accelerate renewable supply and consumer uptake. This includes the opportunity to unlock domestic production aligned with biomethane and hydrogen policy commitments, while utilising Ireland’s access to the growing integrated European renewable liquid gas market.
The opportunities and policy mechanisms required to deliver on this bold ambition will be presented by Alan Farrell, LGI Senior Director for Government Affairs & Policy. Mr Farrell will then join a panel discussion on how this ambition should be positioned within Ireland’s wider renewable energy transition strategy, alongside:
- Stephen Robb, Renewables Editor at the Irish Farmers Journal (Chair).
- Barry Cowen, Fianna Fáil MEP for Ireland Midlands–North-West.
- Barry Caslin, Teagasc Energy & Rural Development Specialist.
Members of the media are invited to attend the launch panel discussion event at the National Ploughing Championships.
